Lizard City

2000© Andrée Fredette

33 x 29" (84 x 74 cm)

Hand-dyed cotton, cotton batting. Machine pieced and quilted.
Photo: Artist

This is the result of an exercise in composition during a workshop with Nancy Crow, in July 2000, at Quilting by the Lake, in New York state. It reminds me of a brick wall, with cracks. In French, a cracked wall is “lézardé”, so Lizard City it is. The quilting evokes lizard skin.
