The "Robbie" hit a reef near Saturna Island, B.C., on July 1st. Despite several attempts to free the ship, it remains stuck to this day.

Launched from a Nova Scotia shipyard in 1940, this 130-foot Grand Banks schooner served as a fishing boat in Atlantic Canada until 1974, when it was brought to the West Coast, to be used as a training ship for thousands of young people, by the Sailing And Life Training Society (SALTS), until 1995.

Its present owner was bringing guests to the Saturna Island Lamb Barbecue, a big annual event, when the ship ran onto the reef. A sad end for a 67 year old boat.
